SDVOSB Certification Requirements for Eligibility
Veteran Status: You have to be a U.S. military veteran with a service connected disability. The disability has to be recognized by the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) or the Department of Defense (DoD).
Small Business Definition: Your business must meet the standards of a “small business” by the Small Business Administration (SBA) size standards. This means the business has to have less than 500 employees and meet other criteria based on industry.
Ownership: The business has to be owned and controlled by one or more service disabled veterans in at least 51% basis. The owner(s) must also be involved in the day to day operations and making decisions that will affect the company in the long run.
Control and Management: The service disabled veteran(s) must also hold the highest officer position (for instance, president, CEO) and control the management and operations of the business.
Citizenship: The service disabled veteran owner(s) must be citizens of the United States of America.
Good Standing: The business should be in good standing with the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) and should not have any legal or financial issues that would prevent it from securing government contracts.
